Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

Sony has recently announced their new tablet PC, the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. The device was unveiled at the Mobile World Conference and is set to be the successor of the firm’s successful Xperia tablet which was very warmly received last year. Sony is marketing their latest tablet PC venture as the most premium tablet in world.

Design

The Xperia Z2 tablet is embodied in the famous OmniBalance design which is featured in all of the Japanese firms most premium products. With glass panels on the front and back of the device, the Z2 certainly has a premium feel about it.

The Sony Xperia Z2 is just 6.4mm thin and clocks in at a mere 440 grams, making the Xperia Z2 the lightest and slimmest 10 inch tablet around!

As well as being an aesthetically pleasing device, the Sony Xperia Z2 is surprisingly hardy. The display is protected by scratch-resistant, tempered glass meaning that it will survive most drops and scrapes. However, the most striking aspect of the Z2’s durability is its impressive water-resistance. Providing that all of the port covers are firmly closed the tablet can survive being dropped in the bath and you can even use it to take pictures at a depth of 1.5 meters! Very impressive.

Tablet Technology

The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is certainly more than a pretty face. Beneath the surface, the 10 inch tablet is powered by a 2.3ghz SnapDragon Processor which is supported by an incredibly generous 3GB of RAM. In addition, as the processor is asynchronous it is incredibly efficient as it does not waste power by activating all the cores at once for small tasks. Furthermore, if you are looking to preserve the tablet’s energy even further you can activate Sony’s stamina mode.

The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet also sports a Adreno 330 GPU which means that you use your tablet to play even the most graphic-hungry games.

At the back of the device there is 8MP camera and at the front there is a 2MP camera, this makes the Z2 great for both video calling and taking photos. There are a number of helpful applications and features that can be used to help you take better photos and adjust photos to perfection such as HDR which takes and merges multiple shots to create one optimised photo.

The device is running on the latest version of the Google’s operating system, Android 44 KitKat, and overlaid with Sony’s sleek user interface.

Release Date and Pricing

The Z2 is set to be released soon in the UK and can already be pre-ordered from Sony’s official website. The upcoming tablet is on sale for £499.
