Microsoft has recently announced their successor to the immensely popular Nokia Lumia 520, the Nokia Lumia 530. Equipped with stronger processing capabilities, a new OS and a great design, the Nokia Lumia 530 is the ultimate budget/mid-range smartphone. If you can’t remember all the features of the Nokia Lumia 520, check out TechStarDeals’s article on it: Nokia Lumia 520.

Design

The Nokia Lumia 530 takes a lot of its design cues from its predecessor as, like the Nokia Lumia 520, the 530 has a solid design and a plastic back cover. However, the Lumia 530 has rounded edges and is ever so slightly heavier.

The upcoming handset features a black front-facing panel and a choice of four back panel colours. The Nokia Lumia 530 will be available in the standard monochrome choices as well as bright orange and bright green, just like the upcoming Nokia Lumia 930.

Features

Undeniably, the major attraction of the Nokia Lumia 530 is the new Windows 8.1 operating system which provides the best Windows Phone experience to date with a superior user interface and other features.

The Nokia Lumia 530 comes with a range of great apps for productivity and fun, including the latest edition of Office and the Maps app which supports offline navigation.

Beneath the surface, the Nokia Lumia 530 is powered by a mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor and 512 MB of RAM for lightening speed processing. The Nokia Lumia also has a powerful battery, giving you enough power for up to 51 hours and music playback time.

The Nokia Lumia 530 will come with 4GB of on-board storage. While this may initially seem poor in comparison with the Nokia Lumia 520, the Nokia Lumia 530 has a micro-SD slot allowing you to seriously top up its memory. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 530 comes with OneDrive, giving you 15GB of free cloud storage. This storage is perfect for editing and creating documents on the go.

Pricing and Release Date

The official Nokia Lumia site states that the phone is ‘coming soon’. However, many speculate they we could be seeing the Nokia Lumia 530 as early as August. In regards to pricing, again nothing official has been announced, it is expected that the phone will fall in the sub-£100 price range, perhaps £70. After all, it was the decent spec and attractive price tag combo which made the Nokia Lumia 520 the firm’s best-selling handset to date.
