Nokia Lumia 2520

Just before Apple unveiled their new iPad Air and iPad mini 2 with Retina display, Nokia announced their new range of products, which included the company’s first tablet, the Lumia 2520, and an assortment of smartphones.

Nokia’s tablet seems to be geared towards the higher end of the tablet market and has a lot of features that make it a great new competitor. The new tablet measures 10.1 inches and it boasts an impressive full HD screen that is reinforced with Gorilla Glass 2. The Lumia 2520 runs on the Windows RT 8.1 operating system which is specifically designed for tablets and smartphones and uses ARM architecture. Unlike the Surface 2 tablet, the Lumia 2520 is capable of 4G connectivity via an optional 4G chip.

The device is very speedy as it uses a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and has 2GB of RAM. Unlike a number of tablets that are currently available, the Lumia 2520 has a microSD slot which gives users the option to increase the already generous 32GB of on-board storage.

The new Lumia 2520 also has an 8,000 mAh battery which can provide users with up to 10 hours of normal use battery life. In addition, it only takes an hour to charge to tablet to 80% from zero. The brilliant battery life in conjunction with the screen protection truly makes it a great device to use on the go.

The tablet also has an impressive 6.7MP camera, complete with Zeiss optics for unrivaled photo quality and superior low-light shots. In addition, unlike the new Apple tablets, Nokia is releasing the tablet alongside the Nokia Power Keyboard which is designed to make it easier to type for extended periods of time and further protect the device.

Like Nokia’s Lumia smartphone series, the Lumia 2520 comes with a number of handy pre-installed features. These include the latest editions of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook. In addition, the tablet comes with the updated version of the popular HERE maps. HERE Drive+ Beta provides you with directions and voice guidance both online and offline—so no need to worry about getting lost if there is poor signal in an area. Using your tablet’s video stream, HERE City Lens labels all the services and sights that are near you. This is a great way of getting to know a new city!

The new tablet is available in a range of colours: black, white, cyan and red.
