The trend for smartwatches dates back to 2013, however, it has only been in 2014 that the devices have garnered much commercial success as previously smartwatches were mainly purchased by early adopters and serious tech enthusiasts. Throughout 2014 a number of top technology companies have released smartwatches, Samsung released their Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear Fit and Huawei released their TalkBand.

Quick to spot the trend and potential of these devices, Motorola has been working on their entry to the smartwatch market.

Design

Unlike other smartwatches that we have seen released, the Moto 360 features a stylish circular design, making it stand out from the crowd and giving it a stylish feel. On their website, Motorola have announced that their watch will be available in a range of styles. Indeed, in press material there are devices with a variety of bands.

Features

The Moto 360 features a a large analogue display and notifications pop up discreetly in a bar at the bottom of the face. This allows you to use the Moto 360 as a watch with minimum distraction.

Motorola’s upcoming smartphone runs on Google’s Android Wear operating system making it incredibly powerful and easy to use. Indeed, you can ask the smartwatch a question by simple saying the keyword ‘Ok Google’. You can ask the Moto 360 a question or even to perform a task such as send a text or set an alarm.

Pricing and Release Date

According to their website, the Moto 360 will be hitting the shelves some time summer 2014. While no official pricing has been revealed, it is rumoured that the device will cost between £150 and £200. Although this price could be slightly higher than smartwatches released by other manufacturers, at TechStarDeals we feel that the premium features that of Moto 360 make it a formidable competitor.
