Huawei TalkBand Announced
At the Mobile World Conference 2014, Huawei have unveiled a number of new products, including their super-size phablets, the MediaPad X1 and the MediaPad M1. In addition, at MWC the popular Chinese firm also released a much smaller device, their first smartwatch: Huawei TalkBand B1. While smartwatches were in their infancy last year with only a handful of models being released, it is expected that in 2014 this wearable tech will become more popular, especially if these new devices will be available for affordable prices.
Design
The Huawei TalkBand has a curved OLED display which displays clear images and the curve makes it comfortable against the wrist. The device is incredibly slim and lightweight so it is no more cumbersome than a regular wristwatch. In addition, Huawei have taken extra precautions to ensure that their upcoming release is a durable device as the Huawei TalkBand is both dust and water resistant.
Perhaps the most striking thing about the design on the Huawei TalkBand is that the device is mutli-functional. Indeed, it can double up as both Bluetooth headset by popping the screen out from the band—very innovative!
The smartwatch is available in a number of shades from subtle greys through to more vibrant hues such as lime green and, our favourite, cyan.
Smartwatch Technology
As with a number of smartwatches, the Huawei TalkBand has a strong focus on fitness. Indeed, there a number of helpful applications preinstalled in the smartwatch that can help you live a healthier lifestyle. Such applications include one which monitors fitness levels and another which keeps a log of sleep patterns.
One of the great things about the Huawei TalkBand is that the device has an excellent battery life. Indeed, the smartwatch can last up to 6 days without a charge and when you go to charge it, it only takes two hours to refill the battery.
The Huawei TalkBand works great alongside a Huawei Smartphone as you can use the device to make and receive calls. While at the moment you can only connect the smartwatch to Huawei devices, rumour has it that an update will be available which allows users to connect the smartwatch to all Android devices which is very exciting news indeed.
Release Date and Pricing
To begin with the Huawei TalkBand will only be available in China. However, after this initial period the device will be available throughout the world. When it reaches the UK, it is estimated that the device will cost around £85, making it very competitively priced product!
