The iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 – What’s New?

While many of us were truly amazed with the updates associated with the iPhone 11 series, it did not take Apple long to come up with an even more revolutionary device.  The iPhone 12 has been making waves within the digital community and if you have been thinking about a possible upgrade, it is a good idea to take a quick look at what this new iteration has in store.

5G Capabilities

Perhaps the most publicised benefit of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Mini is that both are capable of supporting 5G wireless connectivity.  This should really come as no great surprises, as 4G is set to become a thing of the past in the years to come.  The main takeaway point here is that unlike some other phones, 5G connectivity is offered as a standard feature with the iPhone 12 series.

Display Size

Of course, it only stands to reason that the display of both of these models will come into play when making a decision. Here is the simplest breakdown that we can provide:

  • The iPhone 12 Pro: 6.1 inches
  • The iPhone 12 Mini: 4.7 inches

The Mini is therefore on par with even smaller than the SE series.  This could be perfect if you have been looking for a phone with astounding capabilities within a smaller package.  Both screens offer OLED resolution.

You will be happy to learn that size does not matter in terms of performance power.  Both the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Mini are equipped with the cutting-edge A14 Bionic chipset.  Believe it or not, this processor is said to be even faster and more efficient than the much-vaunted A13 model that debuted only last year.  It is thought that the A14 could be up to 50 per cent faster and if preliminary clock rates are any indication, you should not have any issues even when running to more memory-laden apps.

Battery Life

In terms of battery power, it is said that the iPhone 12 Mini offers 15 hours of life before it will need to be recharged.  However, the iPhone 12 Pro could provide up to 17 hours.  These tend to be some of the highest duration rates in the industry today.

As we should have already expected, storage is not really an issue in terms of the iPhone 12 series. Both the standard iPhone 12 and the Mini offer a standard 64 gigabytes of RAM.  However, this is boosted to 128 gigabytes if you happen to prefer the Pro model.  It is not yet entirely clear what type of memory upgrades will be offered, but the chances are high that both of these figures can be increased by a substantial amount.

There are not too many differences in terms of the cameras when compared to the 11 series.  However, we should mention that the iPhone 12 Mini is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera while the Pro offers users an additional telephoto lens for long-distance shots.  LiDAR depth sensors are included with all versions and the clarity is said to be phenomenal.

Our Verdict

Either of these phones is an excellent option. However, it needs to be mentioned that the iPhone 12 Pro is rather expensive.  Those who are on a budget and do not mind sacrificing the size of their display screen could therefore be wise examining the Mini series in greater detail.  From what we have already seen, the iPhone 12 is once again set to shake up the entire smartphone marketplace.
